Just a few days ago, I sent an email to customer service at BodenUSA.com, a UK based womens/kids clothing company that I like to “splurge” on every once in a while, to tell them what happened to my order. It’s a long way from London to Bozeman, Montana
I ordered a wool skirt and sweater to wear to a speaking engagement, a total of $198 plus shipping. Unfortunately, it arrived hours after I left.
My husband removed the package from the safety of the car and placed it on a dinning room chair. In an unprecedented act, my Boxer, Cody, grabbed the bubble-envelop package off the chair where he proceeded to carry it out onto the lawn like a prized chew toy. He was greeted eagerly by our Airdale and Blue Healer who were all too eager to play Bonnie to his Clyde.
When my husband and kids arrived home after school, the found three dogs, chewing, pulling and shredding my clothing around our acre-sized yard. He had to perform a whole CSI thing to figure out what it was. When he realized, he raked the yard, hid the evidence and then forgot to tell me....
When I arrived home, my 6 year old couldn’t wait to tell me that “Cody ate my clothes...” “What???? But my order hasn’t arrived...” Not only had it arrived, it had been delivered, shredded, digested, raked and disposed of without me ever getting to open the package.
I mourned the loss for a week. Not just the clothes, but the time and thought I took in selecting them. I was not going to replace them. Paying $400 for one outfit was out of the question. Then I got a 25% off coupon from BodenUSA and figured I could replace one thing to make me feel better. In a surprise move, by husband sprung for a complete replacement outfit.
