This story is about my dog "dustin" and his rather strange "hole in one".

dustin was on his usual walk in the schoolyard and found a big stick to play with. then he spotted a golf ball, dropped the stick and picked up the ball. then he put the long stick in his mouth so i didn't know if he had dropped the ball or not. after calling the vet that night he assured me dustin would be sick and i would then know he had swallowed it. since he was playing after that i didn't worry until about 3 a.m. when he threw up. then i knew and couldn't sleep the rest of the night. so i decided to clean out my dresser drawer to pass the time until i could call the vet in the morning.

after telling my story to the vet he said "i can get the golf ball out.”  but after x-rays showed some straight pins in his stomach, the vet was afraid that having dustin throw up the ball and perhaps the pins would do more damage in the process.

after much deliberation he decided to take a chance and most pins arrived with no damage and the rest were found in his stools. The golf ball is mounted like at rophy with the inscription "dustin's hole in one". dustin lived to be 15 and i never went on a walk without keeping an eye out for golf balls.
