Oh.. boy do I have stories! I have 3 great danes. One in particular is my deaf and partially blind puppy Indigo! He is only 6 months old and he finds whatever he can to entertain himself. They say people with sensory difficulty in one area make up for it in with their good senses. I think it is also true with dogs. ANYTHING Indigo can get in his mouth he does. He has to taste, chew, and lick everything! This includes my husbands new shoes! He tries to eat the bark off of the palm trees! He chewed my coffee table!!!!! Oh yes and the most recent, he got into a box of hair dye! Needless to say he is ok... kind of scared me, but the carpet has a nice new color now! Oh, and he is getting tall now and wants to smell everything. When he does this he puts his nose on everything and has knocked over numerous glasses. Oh yes.. and he loves water. So every time I am in the shower I have to literally push him away. He is one of the few dogs that will jump right in for a bath. This is good for their baths, but not so good when I want to take a shower!
Lets see what else can I think of? He is strange! He will eat any and all vegetables and fruit (I only give him what I go know is ok). Which makes for cheap chew toys! You would think an animal with his problems would have a difficult time with life... oh no! He is one smart cookie too smart for his own good. He knows sign signals and responds to that well. Although you cant just yell when he is into something. you have to physically walk over every time and tap his shoulder. Then I put my hands on my hips. He knows he's in trouble and he will drop what ever he has and run! So...
needless to say he is my puppy... I love him, but he is a full time job!
p.s. these pictures are a little old but you can see he started his mischief young!
