This is Tucker, the pillow is a seven pound Dolly.  Tucker doesn't realize he's not the same size as Dolly or our mini-dachshund, Dixie.  He sleeps as though they are his liter mates.  He also climbs all over everyone, since he believes himself to be around 10-12 lbs.  He loves trash cans, and anything left low or on the front of the kitchen counters are fair game.  Life with a beagle is a new experience.  I've owned many different breeds, some very large ( a boivier named Worf that weighed in around 100 lbs, English Springer, Terrier-chihuahua mix, poodles from toy to standard),  None of these breeds ever did the things the beagle did.

His story is similar to Watson’s.  he ended up at the dog pound and my adult son adopted him at around 11 months.  He was a 15 inch beagle then...but grew into a 17 plus incher.  My son moved out and of course abandoned the dog.  My husband and I had already decided we only wanted little dogs that could travel with us.  But we also ended up with a beagle...oh, did I mention he gets terribly car sick?

We have walked into the dining room to find Tucker walking across the dining room table.  He climbs up on desks, dressers etc.  We really wonder what he does when we are not home. He has to sleep cuddled up either with the other dogs or with me.  We bought him a very nice wood frame dog bed.  It has a nice plumb pillow bed.  But it sits empty,  Tucker is snuggled up in bed with us.  We got a King size bed for extra room...Tucker takes up the extra room.

We have thought about finding another home for Tucker....yeah, we talk about it at night when we turn out the lights and walk into our bedroom and Tucker plops into the middle of the bed and yawns.  Five minutes later he's snuggled as close to me as he can get.

Tucker is now three,  he's become easier to deal with since he's out of the puppy stuff.  I bought new mini-blinds today to replace the metal ones he destroyed (yes he tried to eat metal blinds, they are all chewed up) a couple of years ago.  I guess we were lucky,  he never chewed the furniture or carpets.

I have come to  the conclusion beagles are truly ADHD..my husband is, my son is and now my dog is....that's okay...I work with ADHD kids every day....maybe he is the right dog for me :)
